Deep Listening invites participants to engage with music through the methodology of Pauline Oliveros, focusing on the distinction between involuntary hearing and conscious listening. Facilitated by interdisciplinary artist Dila Yumurtacı and pianist Gülru Ensari at GUC Music Academy between 20-24 July 2024 as part of ‘Music Connects:Echoes’ festival, organized by German University in Cairo. This workshop emphasizes moving with music, exploring sound layers, and integrating bodywork and meditations. It is designed to expand perception and promote mindfulness, making it accessible for both musicians and non-musicians. The practice fosters creativity, enhances concentration, and supports emotional well-being.
